Chapter 6

Rachel woke the next morning afraid to move. Taking deep breaths, she tried to keep the nausea at bay, praying she wouldn’t disgrace herself by being sick all over Boone and Chase.

When Boone shifted to lean over her, she groaned. “Don’t move,” she whispered weakly. Seconds later she felt one of her precious saltines against her lips and chewed it gratefully.

She saw the worried looks on their faces as she finished one cracker and they offered another. By the time she’d finished three of them, she had started to feel better.

“You okay, Rachel?” Chase asked worriedly when she refused another cracker.

“I’m okay now, thanks.” She sat up gingerly, waiting to see if the nausea had truly passed. “I’m sorry about that. I was afraid I was going to be sick all over you before I could climb over one of you to get up.”

Boone touched her lips tenderly with his. “It’s our baby that’s making you sick to your stomach. Don’t worry about that, baby. We’re all in this together.”

Rachel blushed and nodded, starting to realize how intimate sharing this pregnancy with them would be.
